The AHS Library

The AHS Library is held at Guildhall Library, Aldermanbury, London. The nearest underground stations, within short walking distance, are St Paul's, Mansion House, Bank and Moorgate giving easy access from all main line stations. Car parking is virtually impossible near Guildhall.

We advise you to check directly with Guildhall if you wish to use its facilities.

A computer catalogue here provides details of all printed books in the AHS, Clockmakers, and Guildhall libraries. Alternatively, a full list of the books and manuscripts held by the AHS in Guildhall Library is available to AHS members by logging in here. No loan facilities are available. Many additional books have been placed in our library during recent years which has widened its scope.

Donations and bequests of books or libraries are always welcome. It is particularly helpful if no restrictions are placed on the disposal of any duplicates that might arise. Alternative books would be purchased from the proceeds of any sales. Another successful method of providing books for the library is to set up a memorial fund by donating a capital sum and purchasing books from the interest. These books can be appropriately labelled as a permanent dedication.

Please note that the Clockmakers Company Museum, previously located next to Guildhall Library, has now moved to the Science Museum. Click here for more details of the museum.
